TOMMY BENSON’S WALTZER

Delivered new by Maxwells in 1982, this was the last complete ride to be decorated by Fred Fowle before his untimely death. Initially, it made its debut in 1983 with no flash, which was fitted later in the year.

The ride fully built up at Horsham Park, 13/07/85

The debut: a front view of the newly delivered Waltzer, Wormwood Scrubs Easter Fair, 02/04/83. Note the paybox still in primer, and the handrails still awaiting their fibreglass inserts.

A few weeks later, at Haywards Heath, 02/05/83, the paybox has now been decorated.

Job done: at Horsham Park, 16/07/83, and the ride is complete with Fred Fowle décor in the finest traditional style.
Above: two sections of the rounding boards. Below: The front.
