TOMMY BENSONS SKID
Delivered new by R J Lakin &
Co in 1949, this must surely have been one of their finest and most elaborately
decorated rides ever produced. Featuring some incredible artwork by chief
designer Edwin Hall, it encompasses most of the popular motifs and styles
of the period: including Pegasus and Mercury figures, winged wheels, some
early pyjama-stripe lettering, and a magnificent front reminiscent
of the pre-War Moonrockets.
 |
Its Tommy Bensons
proudly proclaims the front (or is it the back), not that there could
be any mistaking it! |

| Above and below:

| The
paybox and top centres, featuring some wonderful winged wheel motifs. |
